Solar Energy- Natural Fuel

Solar energy tends to be the most specified and amplified source of fuel for humans, since origin of human society, it has intensified its usage and usefulness. We the human’s most intelligent living creatures on earth are still struggling, how to get the best use of this immense and huge fuel which is available and occurs naturally without any human efforts.

Solar energy when met with advanced technology is doing wonders. It is so useful and efficient and of course so non-polluting, that slowly and gradually, usage of solar energy is becoming a priority for so many of us.

Solar energy, basically a radiant light and heat from the sun, has been harnessed and utilized by us since ages. Solar energy and along with it, secondary solar energies like wind and tidal energies are a renewable sources available and yet we have not been able to utilize it completely, which is so not good. With evolving technologies we have intensified the usage and have promoted the efficiency of these renewable resources over the non-renewable resources available on earth.

Solar energy's uses are limited only by human ingenuity, there is a very partial list of soar equipment been invented so far for example, Solar cooker, Solar heaters, Solar day lightning system, space heating and cooling through solar architecture etc., among all the most common way to harvest solar energy is through solar panels.

There is mainly two characterized ways of harvesting solar energies either Passive solar energy or Active solar energy, depending up on the way they capture, convert and distribute solar energies.

How these two categories work?

Well, Active solar techniques include the usage of photovoltaic panels and solar thermal collectors to harness the solar energy. While Passive solar techniques include orienting a building to the sun, choosing materials with favorable thermal mass or light dispersing properties, and creating or designing spaces that naturally circulate air.

Earth’s surface including oceans and atmosphere soaks solar radiations emerging from Sun, and this raises their temperature, and hence creates a chain of evaporation of water from the ocean and other water bodies, resulting in atmospheric circulation or convection. When these water vapors reach the high altitudes where temperature is low, these water vapors condenses into clouds, which ultimately rains back onto earth’s surface. This results into forming a complete water cycle.

Do you know?

The latent heat of water condensation amplifies convection, producing atmospheric phenomena such as wind, cyclones and anti-cyclones.
The total solar energy absorbed by Earth's atmosphere, oceans and land masses is approximately 3,850,000 exajoules (EJ) per year.

Solar energy can be harnessed in different levels around the world. Depending on a geographical location, the closer to the equator the more "potential" solar energy is available for utilization for mankind.
Solar energy refers mainly to the utilization of solar radiation for practical ends. However, all renewable energies, other than geothermal and tidal, derive their energies from the sun it self.

Solar energy is also very efficient for agriculture and horticulture; these seek to the best possible optimization of solar energy in order to enhance the productivity of plants. Techniques such as timed planting cycles, tailored row orientation, staggered heights between rows and the mixing of plant varieties can improve crop yields.

While sunlight is generally considered a huge resource, the exceptions highlight the importance of solar energy to agriculture as well as most of the efficient resources of human societies.

Not only solar energy is vital for us, need of the hour says it should become a daily part and parcel of our polluted and non eco friendly lives, as we all are well aware of the daily consumption of fuels and other non renewable resources, it has became a threat for the coming generations. Solar energies must be used and harvested today, so that our coming generations be remain grateful to their ancestors and they do also follow this trend.
